The former offshore business registered three more companies in Ireland, according to an article in The Independent. It registered its first company in Ireland last year: Binance (Ireland) Holdings. The three new ones are Binance (APAC) Holdings, Binance (Services) Holdings and Binance Technologies. All three companies list Changpeng Zhao (CZ) as their director. The article adds that CZ is a Canadian citizen and resident of Malta.
The move comes after Binance has been barred from operating in several jurisdiction, including from its home base Singapore where it was operating without a licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Binance started as an offshore crypto-to-crypto and no-KYC exchange. It then added having fiat on-ramps, and is now asking for full KYC/AML verification from customers. It is fully transitioning to being a global corporation with a legal presence is all relevant jurisdictions.
